FYI - the board will go down tonight for about 2 hours in order to complete some transitional stuff. Also - we'll be doing the same later this week to transition the board to thecleaningstandard.com.

None of the posts will go away, some posts may get moved to new rooms in the coming days, but rooms should be pretty self explanatory.

Alright guys… big week.

After nearly 20 years, Mikey’s Board is heading into its next chapter.
Since 2006, this place has been a lot more than just a forum.
For a long time, it was the only place a carpet cleaner could go to ask real questions and get real answers from people actually doing the work.
And you guys built that.
Thread by thread… argument by argument… solution by solution…
We now have a 20-year database of real-world knowledge that still gets hit daily by cleaners all over the world.

But more than that—this place created friendships, partnerships, careers…
Mikey’s Fest, phone calls, texts, helping each other out when things got tough…

That’s the part I’m most proud of.
And none of that is going anywhere.
So what’s happening?

We’re transitioning everything over to TheCleaningStandard.com.
Same core… just built out the way it probably should’ve been from the beginning.

What that means for you:
• Cleaner, more professional (PG) environment
• Better organization of everything we’ve built
• Verified members—so you know who actually knows their stuff
• AI layered in to surface answers fast (not replace real experience)
• Step-by-step standards, manuals, and processes
• Easier access to equipment help, troubleshooting, and documentation
• Regional rooms and better visibility for those doing great work
• A real path for customers to find the right cleaners

And for the newer guys…
We’re going to say the things that don’t usually get said—honest, raw, but with the intent to help you succeed faster.
Now… let’s address the elephant in the room.

Part of what made this place what it is… is also what can make it tough for new people walking in.

There’s always been a bit of a locker room mentality here—busting chops, pushing buttons, sometimes going at each other pretty hard.
Some of you love it. It’s part of the culture.
So instead of trying to kill that off overnight…
We’re containing it.
There will be a separate sub-forum where that kind of interaction can continue—out of the public-facing areas and away from new members trying to learn the trade.
Some of you will probably stay there.
Some of you will wander out and test the new waters.

Either way is fine.

But the main rooms are going to be focused on helping, teaching, and building people up.

Over time, I think the direction will take care of itself.
What’s NOT changing:
The people.
The honesty.
The willingness to help each other out when it matters.
Some posts may move around as we organize things, but nothing is being lost.

This isn’t a shutdown.
It’s a build.

I know this place means a lot to a lot of you—it does to me too.

But if we do this right…

What we’re building next will help even more cleaners, at a higher level, for the next 20 years.

Appreciate all of you.
Let’s keep it going.
